KBI offers a full spectrum of programming for Families and kids throughout the year. Family Engagement offers the opportunity for parents/caregivers and children together to celebrate holidays, Shabbat, and special occasions with a wider circle of families and the broader Jewish community.
Twice a month on Saturday mornings we offer Tot Shabbat – tots (0-6) and their parents/caregivers join together in our Family Lounge for songs, prayers, stories, and a healthy light lunch. Families love this opportunity to connect with their kids and introduce them to the joys of synagogue life. Tots enjoy joining the older kids on the bimah in the main sanctuary for the end of the service.
Kehillateinu (Junior Congregation) runs every other Shabbat morning in the Chapel, beginning at 10:30 AM. Children age 7-11 participate in a kids’ prayer service, learn about the weekly Torah portion, play games, and enjoy a fun, kid-friendly snack before leading the concluding prayers in the main sanctuary.
Our High Holy Day programming focuses on bringing the huge concepts of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur down to a kid-friendly level. In addition to Junior Congregation Services for all ages and Babysitting, KBI’s High Holy Day Family Services welcome kids (0-6) and their parents/caregivers into our vibrant worship community. These programs include learning, praying, and games, creating memorable and meaningful holiday experiences for all. Enjoy a moving holiday experience together with your children in a service geared to their needs, interests, and attention spans!
In celebration of Jewish holidays, we run fun, engaging, and creative programs for parents and kids. Past programs have included: Sukkah Decorating, Family Hannukah Parties, Non-Traditional Hamentaschen Baking for Purim, Chocolate Seders for Passover, and Cheesecake Making for Shavuot. Our programs are hands-on, dynamic, and crafted with the needs of parents and young children in mind. You can expect fun family activities, holiday crafts, delicious food, and the opportunity to meet other families in the KBI community.
