Belonging at KBI
We all come to our synagogue for different reasons. Some of us enjoy the daily minyan, some are looking for a place to introduce our children or grandchildren to Judaism, and some want opportunities to study Torah. The list could go on and on.
But no matter what brings us through the doors, we all want the same thing: to feel that we belong to the synagogue—and that the synagogue belongs to us.
At our March board meeting, we heard about two simple but meaningful ways we’re strengthening that sense of belonging at KBI.
Welcoming New Members
Our Membership Committee calls every new member to welcome them and help them feel at home in our community. You can play a part in this effort, too—by joining us for our New Members Kiddush on Shabbat morning, May 10. It’s a great opportunity to meet new faces and make them feel truly welcomed.
Supporting Mourners
Many families want to say Kaddish at home during shiva but may not have someone who feels comfortable leading the service. To help, we’ve created a roster of KBI members who can step in and lead. It’s a simple but powerful way to support one another and strengthen our community.
These are just two examples of how we can all contribute to making KBI a place where everyone feels a true sense of belonging. I hope to see you at the New Members Kiddush—and at many other times throughout the year!
Wishing you Chag Pesach Kasher v’Sameach!
