We have put together many different opportunities for our community to safely join together for meaningful pre-High Holy Day preparations and experiences throughout these Holy Days.

Kever Avot Service – Sunday, September 13

Join your clergy at Jewish Memorial Gardens for a special service to remember our departed loved ones.

Final Live-Stream Training – Wednesday, September 16

Are you not yet comfortable with the technology to fully actualize the KBI High Holy Day experience? Come to KBI on Wednesday afternoon and evening and get all the training you’ll need. Feel free to bring your own tablet or laptop, though one will be present for teaching purposes as well. Pre-registration is required.

Erev Rosh Hashannah Evening Services – Friday, September 18

Mincha/Maariv for Rosh Hashannah. Lift off for the High Holy Days together with your clergy, family, and friends. Click here to register for this service.

Shofar Blowing

Over the course of the afternoon, sounding of the Shofar will take place around the city, led by various community organizations. There will be three opportunities to hear the shofar, led by KBI. The first opportunity to hear the shofar blasts will be on the front lawn at KBI.

  • 3:00 PM – Centrepointe Park
  • 4:45 PM – Westboro Beach


Following a brief afternoon service, we will toss away our sins into the Ottawa River at Westboro Beach.

SEPT 21 – SEPT 25

Throughout the week between Rosh Hashannah and Yom Kippur, the sanctuary will be open to give you a few minutes at the ark for personal prayer and reflection. Everyone will be allotted a 10-minute window to assure that physical distancing is maintained. To register, please click here.

Yom Kippur

Sunday September 27- Pre-Yom Kippur Hikes/ Nature Walks

Get in touch with God by getting in touch with nature. Join your KBI family for hikes and nature walks around the National Capital Region.

10:00 AM:

  • Pinhey Forest Trail Meet at the year-round parking location (P14), access from behind the Nepean Sportsplex. This trail is universally accessible, AND
  • Pine Grove Trail.  Meet at parking location P18, which is off of Davidson Rd.

Yom Kippur Morning Services:  Live-Stream Only (See Online Experiences)

Yom Kippur Learning Sessions – Monday, September 28

There will be opportunities for learning either outside (weather permitting) or inside the shul.

An opportunity to pray for healing for ourselves, our families, and our world.

Come together with your KBI community over Zoom or in person to bring the High Holy Day season to a close. You can access this service by Zoom or you can register to participate in-person. Following the service, feel free to stay on Zoom and schmooze with others as you break the fast from your homes.
